This is a fully fortified pelleted feed. It is not necessary to add additional protein, vitamin, or mineral supplements if this feed is fed as directed. All Burkmann feeds should be fed with liberal quantities of good quality hay and/or pasture and free choice salt.
FOALS AND WEANLINGS
This product is not recommended for feeding nursing foals or weanlings up to 14 months of age. We recommend the use of SPRINT TEXTURED 16% FOAL FEED for these horses.
YEARLINGS AND TWO-YEAR OLDS
This product is not recommended for yearlings and two-year old’s. We recommend the use of SPRINT14% TEXTURED HORSE FEED or SPRINT 14 PELLETS for these horses.
BARREN AND PREGNANT MARES
Barren and early pregnant mares should consume 5-8 lb per day of this feed or adequate amounts to maintain proper body condition. During the last 90 days of pregnancy, it is recommended that mares be changed to SPRINT 14% TEXTURED HORSE FEED or SPRINT 14 PELLETS.
This product is not recommended for use with lactating mares. Lactating mares should be fed SPRINT 14% TEXTURED HORSE FEED or SPRINT 14 PELLETS when on a good quality legume hay or SPRINT 16% TEXTURED FOAL FEED or SPRINT 16 COLT DEVELOPER PELLETS when poor quality grass hay is the source of forage.
Performance horses should be fed at 0.25 - 1.50% of their body weight per day (8 - 14 lb per day for most light horses). Feed intake should be adjusted according to work intensity, body condition, and forage quality and availability.
